I live in Livonia. Another rat's nest of political and self-serving conniving at "leadership" levels. But Hillsdale doesn't sound too good either, although in fairness I basically have no idea what the TRUE problems are. Or is. Probably the same one infecting every U.S. town or city...cascading downward moral standards and indifference to traditional civility. Can't/shouldn't Larry Arnn be speaking up ("leaderly"-like) to the issues you write about? He is in effect, Mr. Hillsdale. Or at least should be. To what extent are the dreaded MEA and the Marxist teachers in Hillsdale schools the secret, 600 pound canary in the woodpile?

Sad to hear Livonia used to be a excellent community.... Yes neocons, top down "Reaganomics"/NAFTA/Wall Street-Big Bank pandering economic structure, shareholder only driven corporate culture, citizens united, qualified immunity and until recently chevron have crushed this once mighty empire.... But in the end, we all vote, we all work, we all buy.... so.... mirrors around. Fight the good fight, Livonia was once a wonderful city full of life and culture, when the unions ruled the D. UAW Livonia was a glorious place!

I'm pretty sure I don't care anymore whether Hillsdale destroys itself. It may be preferable to having a city manager who looks at city taxpayers as prey. And, Stuchell must be one of the most un-self-aware people in council. When is his term up? If he is permitted to run again, will someone please try to primary him? Awful, despicable human being.

As much as I love the editorial I really think when you attack a man you must do it by your name. Once your using your own name, know there are allies in the community.... Those who would see tax payers passion as personal attacks must find other "employ". Be that public employees or electeds. If you can't remove a tax payers passion over their most treasured asset, their family-their property-the future-their money from an attack on your sit at your dinner table with your family self..... Then you should resign immediately.... Not saying I could, nor would want to.... CJ found out, fast.... But "just sayin'".... Taxpayers have no duty to be "civil" or "respectful" your entire job "plays with their emotions" every day.... You want "power", you want to lead, you want to accept public funds.... Check your fee fees at the door...

If a manager cannot manage and would rather curry Lansing's favor than hear and work for the local citizenry through its elected officials, driving away good subordinate managers and engineers who'd really like to be led to do their jobs rather than act with a tin ear toward the electorate, should not that manager be man enough to resign himself and find a position in a larger metropolis as he is obviously a cut above We The People of Hillsdale? He wants to run Hillsdale like Tecumseh or Coldwater, and get paid for a city the size of Jackson or Livonia. Should he not go seek employment where he'd be welcome instead of trying to run off elected officials who represent We The People???

"We" (you of the city) voted these people who can't stand up to little Napoleon. "We" (you of the city, mostly those over 55) love your services and "experts". The problem with all of this, then entire community, county maybe country is "We" are always looking for someone or something to blame... When in fact it is our fault. An election is coming, "Choose wisely".

I .... would make sure a choose leaders who accept accountability not seek excuses. 50%/.33333 does not equal accountability or even the desire for it.
